Sightline is a Shopify app that scans your product catalog for image accessibility issues (missing alt text) and lets you fix them in bulk, plus checks color pairs you supply against WCAG contrast guidelines. This policy explains exactly what data the app touches, what it keeps, and for how long.
Sightline is operated by Pond Creek Holdings LLC (Missouri, USA), referred to below as "we" or "us". For questions about this policy or about data we hold, contact support@pondcreekholdings.com.
When you install Sightline you grant it these Shopify API scopes:
| Scope | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
read_products | To read product titles and image alt text, so a scan can find images missing a description. |
write_files | To write alt text back to an image, and only that field — used only when you review and approve a fix. This is the permission Shopify requires for updating an image's description. Sightline never changes a product's title, price, description, or any other field, and never adds or deletes files. |
Sightline does not request customer, order, or theme-write scopes. It cannot see your customers, and it cannot edit your theme.
Product and image data is fetched from Shopify at scan time and is not itself stored — we keep the finding (which product, which image, that alt text was missing), not a copy of your catalog.
These are the only records we keep:
| Record | Contents | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Store connection | Your .myshopify.com domain, an encrypted Shopify access token, its refresh token, expiry times, granted scopes, and install/uninstall timestamps. |
Required to talk to your store's Admin API on your behalf. |
| Scan history | When each scan ran, how many products and images it covered, and how many issues it found. | So you can show, if ever asked, that you have been checking regularly. |
| Findings | For each issue: the Shopify product ID, product title, image ID, the type of issue, and — once fixed — the alt text that was written and when. | The dated proof-of-action Sightline exists to provide: what was wrong, and what was done about it. |
We do not store: customer names, emails, addresses, orders, payment information, or your theme's code or colors. Contrast checks you run are computed from the color values you type in and are not saved.
Sightline does not certify or guarantee that your store meets any accessibility law or standard. It reports the specific issues it can detect (missing image alt text, and contrast ratios for colors you supply), fixes the one thing it genuinely can (alt text, with your approval), and reports what it cannot fix (most contrast and keyboard issues live in your theme, which this app does not modify). Nothing in the app or this policy is legal advice.
